Acute Coronary Syndrome
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) refers to conditions caused by sudden reduced
or blocked blood flow to the heart, damaging heart tissue. It includes unstable
angina, NSTEMI, and STEMI. Immediate diagnosis and treatment are crucial to
minimize heart damage. Risk factors include high blood pressure, smoking,
diabetes, high cholesterol, and family history. In 2023, ACS affected around
1.3 million people in the U.S., with numbers projected to rise by 2034.
